 Youth

Welcome to the Leon Valley Baptist Church Youth Department!  It is our goal to train Godly, Christ-like teenagers who will live as lights in this world of darkness.

Our entire youth program can be summed up in two statements; knowing God and having fun!

Knowing God
The foundation of our youth program is and will always be the Bible.  Our goal is to teach solid Biblical doctrine that the teenager can understand and apply to his or her life.  If we fail to teach the Bible then we make ourselves no different than any social club in the world.  Jesus Christ stated that the first and great commandment was to love the Lord your God with all of your heart, your mind, and your soul!  To fail to teach these teenagers about God would be to fail to fulfill our first and greatest command!

Having Fun
We are also in the business of having a great time!  At every youth gathering, whether at youth night on Wednesday nights or at Sunday School on Sunday mornings, we strive to have a great time of fun and fellowship!  The Second Great Command that Christ gave was to love your neighbor as you love yourself and we make accommodations for the teens to make solid friendships that will last for years!  Every month we have at least one youth activity that includes such outings as paintball, Laser Quest, bowling, "girls night out," and guys camping trips, just to name  a few!  Though we love to have fun, we are always careful to make sure our actions are glorifying to God.

Youth Sunday School
Theme:  Loving God and Loving Each Other:  Matthew 22:36-40
Master, which is the great commandment in the Law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it.  Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Our Sunday School time is focused on further developing relationships with one another as well as teaching solid Biblical truth.

Our Sunday School class meets every Sunday morning at 9:00 AM in the back portable building.  We begin with both senior high and junior high but later dismiss the junior high boys and girls to go to their own classes.  Sunday school is a great time to truly get to know one another in the youth group.  We begin every Sunday with prayer and a fun quiz.  We try to include all the teens in the discussions and help their understanding through games, group studies, and discussion times.

Split Sunday
The last Sunday of every month we split the guys and the girls up into two classes.  We do this because sometimes guys need to be with guys and girls with girls.

LVBC now has spanish translation at every service!
