We would like to welcome you to Leon Valley Baptist Church.  We are an Independent Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX, located on the outskirts of Leon Valley.

We want people to know we serve the Almighty God.  Our goal is to exalt God through the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  If we can assist you, call us.

Stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.
Philippians 1:27

The Logic of Missions
We face a humanity that is too precious to neglect.
We know a remedy for the ills of the world too wonderful to withhold.
We have a Christ who is too glorious to hide.
We have an adventure that is too thrilling to miss.

Thanksgiving marked a special time in prayer for me. The first big event was a service in our home for this special day. The night before Thanksgiving this year we had a good group with Pastor Martinez preaching the Word to all of us as he has done many times. Two of the men that were here for that first service were among those this year. Also, for this special time our neighbor, a cancer survivor I had asked you to pray for years ago, came and spent some time with Pastor Martinez before the service. Lucho without a doubt has again heard the Truth of his need to be saved.

The last few weeks I have been teaching through Creation on Wednesdays and many aspects of the birth of Christ on Sundays. With each study I strive to show the simplicity of Christ in all that God has given us in the Bible. The world seems too willing to abandon the truths in these areas. God is God and it is what He says in the Word. The almighty Creator is Jesus Christ. My friend Rafael, on the left, was born with his feet deformed and had an operation as a baby to correct them. He is now ten and has much pain when he walks. It broke our hearts to see him sit there and sob after walking to the service. Pray for him to find shoes that help and the pain to lessen. Also, for his family to stay faithful to the Bible studies and services in town here.

Many people here in town look forward to the next tract as I change them out every few weeks. The last three have been Chick tracts which people really like. I was in the vegetable store and a hand came over my shoulder and took one of the tracts from my shirt pocket, Nestor just couldn´t wait. I guess I am more than just a person passing out tracts but a mobile tract rack. That does not hurt my feelings at all. Praise the Lord and pray with me for their salvation.

Angela Atwell –  Cambodia

The Family Day we had in November went really well. We had a huge crowd of kids, and about 20-25 youth and adults. Of the adults, six or seven were new ladies that I had met while passing out flyers on various occasions. For the kids we had water games outside—water balloons, waterguns, etc. They loved it! And the adults enjoyed watching. We also had some dry games inside for the youth and adults. I wasn’t sure if the adults would be shy about participating, but once we got started, they were vying for a turn. After the games, Rob Cady gave an evangelistic lesson. Then, we took pictures of folks and gave out sandwiches on their way out.

Two weeks later, we walked through the neighborhood passing out pictures—both official portraits as well as candid snapshots taken throughout the event. It gave us another opportunity to meet and talk with people. I remember one lady was really surprised because she hadn’t had a family portrait taken, but we had a snapshot of her watching the games; she was pleased.

Please keep praying for us as we try to reach out to the community. We’re making good progress with the kids, a little progress with the youth, but trying to reach the adults is like plowing up rock hard soil—it’s TOUGH! Just keep praying!

The Wilbank's - Italy

The last few months have been very eventful! Your prayers and support are bearing fruit in Florence!  In our last letter we talked about a young man who had many questions about spiritual things. Cody was

able to sit down with him and share the gospel while answering his many questions. If you remember the last letter, he was the one who said, “Molto bella,” in response to a biblical understanding of the church. Since then we had written back and forth, Cody answering some more questions for him, all the while praying for his salvation. We are excited to report that Alessio, the young man, wrote Cody just a few weeks ago to say, “I believe!” He is immediately interested and concerned in growing in his new faith! We are so thankful that we get to be a small part of the harvest and we are thankful that you are a part of it with us!

During the month of November we also hosted an English speaking Bible study designed to let unbelievers discuss their concerns and ask their questions about Christianity and then point them to the Bible for answers.  It was an encouraging time for the believers who came and it opened up great discussions with those not yet with Christ. One of those is a man from Poland in Cody’s language class. Cody and he have had many discussions at our house and at school and we are praying that he would soon see that only Christ can meet his need for a

Savior.  Your prayers and support for our family are a great encouragement to us as we finish our first year in Italy!  We want to wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The Rose Family - Spain

We are finishing up preparations for the Christmas Cantata, “La Promesa de Luz.”  Although we were praying that we would be able to perform the program here in Cártama, at this time our request for the building has been denied.  We will invite our friends and contacts to come see the program in one of the other locations, as the gospel message will be clearly presented during and after the program.  The denial of our building request is just another symptom of the darkness of the culture here in Spain.  As always, we covet your prayers as we are confronting the atheism, humanism, and overall spiritual apathy that is so overwhelming here.  Just to give an idea of why we are so persistent in asking for your prayers, we were recently horrified when JohnPaul (age 4) came home from school with a note detailing their unit study on witches . . . what they wear, what they eat etc.  Dena did take the opportunity to go in and share with the teacher our perspective from the Bible on such teaching, but it seemed that she didn’t understand why a parent wouldn’t want their child to study witches every day for a month!  On a positive note, she did say she would read to the class the two Bible verses that Dena shared with her.  That situation is just one of many that have been a threat to our physical and spiritual safety.  We really can’t stress enough how important your prayers for us are . . . the battle is not against flesh and blood!
